A Year of Focused Experimental Learning in Movement, Creativity & Human Adaptability
The Open Study Cycle is a year-long immersion into movement, creativity, and human adaptability. Through a series of hands-on weekend workshops and a summer intensive, we explore how learning grows from the ongoing interplay between how we perceive, how we move, and how we interact.
Rooted in the Fighting Monkey Practice, the Study Cycle is not about collecting techniques. It is a continuous research process in which participants test ideas, refine their patterns, and develop tools that support long-term adaptation.
Receive Feedback
Understand yourself better — how your body is structured, how you learn, and how you adapt.
Acquire Practical Tools
Games, practices, and ideas to work on what is needed with enjoyment — without dependency on a teacher.
Improve Predictions
Adjust your practice, behaviour, and thinking models to shape a more open, flexible, and engaging future.
Open Games & Play
Keep playing to stay sharp, mobile, and engaged throughout life.
Rhythm & Coordination
Develop clarity, coherence, and whole-body connectivity rather than constantly “fixing” the body.
Creativity & Agency
Build your own practice — don’t rely on masters or fixed systems.
Action & Perception
Explore how you make sense of the world through movement.
Movement & Communication
Move and express yourself in ways that allow you to resonate and respond flexibly.
We value diverse learning environments. The Study Cycle welcomes anyone willing to examine habits, challenge assumptions, and engage in open exploration — dancers, athletes, coaches, therapists, educators, engineers, and curious movers alike.
If you are drawn to long-term learning, play, discovery, and movement as a way of understanding yourself and the world, this program can offer significant value and support deep, lasting development.
